Our Soul is a Spiritual Land!

Thieves arrive like regular citizens.  Casually walking into a town in distress.  The storm has hit.  The lights are out.  The police and other officials are busy.

They see opportunity for their thievery.  Often violence and destruction are part of their path.  In the olden days, this scene could be played out in an entire kingdom during a time after a King’s death.  The land with no king is a land to be plundered and ravaged.

One of the first things that we must ingrain deep down in our understanding about our new Christian life, is that our new life is like a land under a powerful king.  We call it the Christ-land soul.  And, it is not left alone to be exploited and abused like a land with no king.

God spoke through prophets to assure us of His spiritual presence:

“I will be WITH you; I will not fail you or forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5; Hebrews 13:5)

Also, during his time on earth, Jesus spoke to his disciples of both His resurrection to a new life in heaven as well as a wonderful gift from heaven, another Comforter and Helper, the Spirit of truth (John 14:16-20).  Very directly Jesus stated a new fact about the new Christ-land,

“I will not leave you all alone like orphans.” (John 14:18NCV)

Every day of our lives, every morning of our lives the Helper, the Spirit of truth, would be WITH us helping us to tend to our beautiful soul.  Our soul is a spiritual land of the kingdom of God under the reign of a living king represented by His Spirit.

What’s more, thieves don’t like the light of the new day.  Often the things of the night and the darkness are repelled when morning’s dawn arrives on the scene.

God Himself provides light for our path in this new Christ-land.  Christian disciples should think of their soul as spiritual land where God is providing a dawning light.  He wants us to expect His dawn’s light to rise in us and shine in our heart-land, the territory that impacts our outward life.  Pretty cool really.

The apostle Peter wrote to Christians in 2 Peter 1:19 saying, you…

“…do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises IN YOUR HEARTS.”

Yes, IN OUR HEARTS!

This is the spiritual heart of both our spirit and our soul.  While the human spirit is “born again” in Christians, our soulish land must be walked daily WITH God’s Holy Spirit.  Hopefully, in God’s light.

Good, lasting change starts in His dawn’s light.   And your dawn is coming.

Are you ready to receive it?
